11th New York Artillery Heavy

Regimental History
Eleventh New York Artillery (Heavy). — Authority to recruit this regiment was given to Maj. William B. Barnes on Feb. 7, 1863, with headquarters at Rochester. Only four companies were organized, however, when the authority was revoked, July 25, 1863, and the companies were transferred to the 4th N. Y. artillery (q. v.). A number of recruits for the regiment not yet assigned to companies were transferred to the 13th N. Y. artillery.
