Commanding the Second Brigade in Major General Van Dorn's Division, __, 1862.
Commanding, in __, 1862, Second Brigade, Second Division, Army of the West, composed of Fourth Arkansas Infantry, First and Second Dismounted Arkansas Riflemen, Fourth Arkansas Battalion of Infantry, Turnbull's Arkansas Battalion of Infantry Reserves, Missouri Scouts, and Humphries' Light Battery of Artillery.
Division composed of McNair's Arkansas Brigade and McCrary's Texas Brigade, August 30, 1862.
Transferred to Trans-Mississippi Department in December, 1863, commanding Arkansas post, where he surrendered and was made a prisoner of war January 9-11, 1863. After exchange, reported to General Bragg, at Chattanooga.
In __, 1864, transferred to Trans-Mississippi Department.
Commanded corps at battle of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, composed of Arkansas and Missouri troops.
Commanded Churchill's Division Arkansas Troops at the battle of Jenkins' Ferry, Arkansas, April 30, 1864.
